Good to know
Midnight in Malta, 11pm in London
Malta is one hour ahead of the UK and Ireland all year round. When midnight strikes in St Julian's, it's 11pm in London and Dublin: if you're calling friends and family back home, they've still got an hour to go. The next day, 1 January, is a public holiday in Malta.
Where to go out on New Year's Eve
In Malta, nightlife is concentrated in St Julian's, around Paceville, the island's main party district. Staying in the area means you can walk back after midnight.
Each party announced shows its exact venue on this page: check it before you book your accommodation, as they won't necessarily all be in Paceville.
Getting home after midnight
The N13 night bus links Valletta to St Julian's via Sliema every night, at €3 a journey. For the night of 31 December, check the times on the Malta Public Transport website before you go out.
Bolt, Uber and eCabs also operate in Malta. French government travel advice (France Diplomatie) calls for particular caution in the Paceville area: don't leave your drink unattended and head home in a group.
Age, ID and dress code
Each party sets its own minimum age and dress code: when they've been published, they're shown on its page. Bring original photo ID.
Before you travel, check which document you need to enter Malta: depending on your nationality, a valid national ID card may be accepted as well as a passport.
In a group: the VIP table
Celebrating New Year with friends? You can request a VIP table using the form on the VIP page: tell us the party you're interested in, the date and how many of you there'll be, and our team will reply on WhatsApp with availability. The table doesn't include entry: everyone also needs a ticket for the party.
